2009 Conference - Call for Proposals

The 2009 Ieata Conference program will include more than 40 concurrent presentations and workshops - you can be one of them!

IEATA is accepting proposals to present at its 8th International Conference. In particular we are seeking expressive arts therapists and educators, consultants, expressive artists and others to offer workshops and presentations.

We are particularly interested in proposals that address the interdisciplinary use of the arts in therapy and social change, and the interface between expressive therapy and social transformation. We will examine the role of the arts for social change within individual relationships, families and communities, and as a bridge among diverse communities.

In keeping with our theme, Expressive Arts inSocial Acition: Peace-ing Our World Together, proposals should focus on the transformative power of the arts for:

• Breaking down cultural barriers and misperceptions

• Encouraging community participation and growth

• Providing opportunities for empowerment and social change/healing

• Promoting social justice locally and internationally

General Guidelines

Proposals will ONLY be accepted via email. Hardcopy proposals will NOT be accepted. The deadline for proposal submission is Friday, September 26, 2008 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Due to space and time limitations, preference will be given to new material that adds to the body of knowledge in the field of expressive arts therapy. When two presentations of equal value and quality are accepted by the blind review committee, the Conference Committee will lean in favor of the presenter not already represented at the conference. Please prepare your presentation proposal with this in mind.

Presenters pay regular conference registration fees.
